Bezos was born in 1964 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and raised in Houston, Texas. He attended Princeton University and majored in computer science and electrical engineering. Following graduation, he worked at a number of technology firms, including Fitel, Bankers Trust, and D. E. Shaw & Co.

Bezos left D. E. Shaw & Co. in 1994 to found Amazon. Because of its large pool of tech talent and proximity to book distributors, he chose Seattle as the location for his new company. Bezos began by selling books online and funding Amazon with $1 million of his own money.

Amazon was an instant success, and Bezos quickly realised that he had discovered something far more significant than just an online bookstore. He broadened Amazon's product offerings to include music, movies, and electronics. He also introduced new features, such as customer reviews and recommendations, that made shopping on Amazon more user-friendly.

Bezos' vision for Amazon has always been lofty. He wanted to create a company that could provide a wide range of products at low prices with fast and dependable shipping. He also envisioned Amazon as a technology leader, creating innovative new products and services to make people's lives easier.

Bezos has made significant progress towards realising that vision over the years. Amazon has evolved into a massive e-commerce platform, selling millions of products to customers worldwide. In addition, the company has expanded into new areas such as cloud computing, digital media, and smart home devices.

Bezos has been the driving force behind Amazon's success, but he has not been without criticism. Some have accused Amazon of being overly dominant in the e-commerce market, squeezing out smaller competitors and wielding undue influence over the products it sells. Others have criticised Amazon's treatment of its employees, accusing them of being underpaid and overworked.

Regardless of these criticisms, Jeff Bezos and Amazon have had a profound impact on the worlds of e-commerce and technology. Amazon is one of the most successful companies in history, thanks to Bezos' unwavering drive and ambition, and his legacy will be felt for many years to come.
